Junk Yard Day - A Fun Way To Teach Kids How To Be Eco-Friendly

Have you ever wanted to teach a child about the importance of being environmentally friendly? Have you heard of “Junk Yard Day.” When I was in elementary school we had a day called “Junk Yard Day” the cafeteria was filled with recyclable products, such as, newspaper, glass jars, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, cardboard. The cafeteria was also filled with buttons, glitter, glue, paint and colored construction paper. Each class was taken to the cafeteria and given two hours to look and create something new with the recyclable items. It was fun and creative, while the class was using their creative minds to create something new with recyclable items our teachers told us about the importance of recycling. “Junk Yard Day” is an amazing way to teach children about recycling. It is fun, interactive and informative. While they are creating and having fun you can tell them about how they are helping the environment by reusing old recyclable items in a new way. This is a great teaching plan for teachers, parents or babysitters ! This is also great for people who love crafting ! You can craft something new and useful with recyclable items around the house.
